Want to Sell Your Artwork?
Note – This is a post for those interested in learning how to sell their artwork. Please stop reading if you are not interested in selling your art, the business of art, money etc
If you are still reading then I will assume you want to know more about how to sell your artwork.
The first question most artists have when it comes to selling their art is to do with whether they are ready or not. Are they good enough?
It’s a good question to ask with many possible answers.
My view is that you should start to sell your artwork (if that is what you want to do) as soon as you possibly can.
The sooner you start to generate an income from your art the sooner you can start to:
And so much more.
You don’t need to be a master artist to start selling your art.
What I recommend to artists who want to sell their art is to follow a simple easy to implement plan that will take them to a consistent $500 a month in sales.
The plan needs to produce consistent and regular sales. Not occasional sales that are out of our control. We want to follow a plan that will lead us to consistent income averaged out over time.
If you follow the right art sales plan over the next six months you could be achieving the $500 level as a part time artist.
Imagine getting paid for your hobby. What would you do with the $500 a month besides the ideas listed above?
So what is the plan that artists can follow to achieve this goal in the next 6 months?
Well, the plan I followed many years ago was to paint lots of small paintings and make them available in the right marketplace where art buyers were already going to purchase art.
And to do this consistently and build it up over time.
In fact, when I started out on my art journey this was exactly the plan I followed:
I just did that daily, weekly, and monthly over a few years.
Guess what happened?
1/ My painting improved dramatically because I was painting a lot
2/ People who buy art started to find out about me
3/ Lots of them followed my journey on social media sites
4/ I started to earn money from my art
5/ I invested the money back into better art supplies which meant I produced better art
6/ I invested in learning how to become a better artist which improved my art
7/ I then invested in learning how to sell more art
The net result was that over a few years I got paid to learn how to paint. It’s an ongoing process. I still get paid to continue my journey to becoming the best artist I can be.
Today my art business does multiple six figures in revenue. I’ve been able to sell art to collectors globally including corporations and institutional investors. And I’ve taught what I learned about painting to help inspire other artists globally.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not here to brag. I long ago moved past the need for external validation.
I’m just sharing my story so you can see what is possible when you:
If you do that, follow the simple plan I used, and now teach other artists, then a consistent and reliable income of $500 is more than possible for most artists.
And that is just the starting point. $500 a month is very much a part time income.
However $500 a month consistently on average is $6000 a year as a part time artist.
That’s nothing to sneeze at.
Once you learn the skills to get to $500 a month you can grow it from there if you want.
It is easier to go from $500 a month to $2,000 a month than it was to get to $500 a month in the first place.
For those who are really dedicated and serious then a six figure income is more than possible for artists today.
If you haven’t realized it yet, right now is the greatest time in history for artists to create success, self represent, and earn a professional level income.
There has never been a time in history when artists could reach out to a global community of billions of people and share their art with them. And do it without the gatekeepers who ruled the artwork for decades previous.
Now it’s not easy. Don’t get me wrong. There is work involved. And you need to work at it consistently over a long enough period of time following the right plan and strategy.
But it’s more possible than right now.
Let me give you the $500 a month plan any artist can follow if they have the desire, and are prepared to put the work in.
I have recorded a special webinar for you on how to start selling your artwork.
