About The Learn To Paint Academy

The Learn To Paint Academy is the place for beginner to intermediate artists
to make rapid progress with their painting!

At the Learn To Paint Academy, our motto is “Just Have A Go!”

After all, what is the worse thing that can happen?

At the end of the day, it is just paint on a surface. If it doesn’t work out the way you want you can always wipe it off, gesso over it, or throw it in the bin and start again. When you have a go you give yourself the opportunity to learn something and improve.

If you never have a go then you deny yourself the opportunity to gain new insights, identify what you need to work on, and the chance to improve.

Everything our founder Rod Moore does in the Learn To Paint Academy then is to encourage members to pick up a brush and just have a go. It is the process of doing this consistently over time that leads you to develop your painting skills.

At the Learn To Paint Academy, we have seen this over and over with thousands of our students. Many of them had never painted before they joined us. All they had was the desire to paint and that is all you need.

The results from our students speak for themselves.

Check out what our members have to say:

In the process of teaching more than 95,000 students from around the world, Rod has identified the key things that beginner to intermediate artists need to focus on.

These include:

  • Simplification – Learning to paint can be overwhelming at first. There is so much to learn and so many new skills to acquire. It’s no wonder new painters become stuck and unable to move forward. The starting point then when you join the Learn To Paint Academy is to simplify everything. The Moore Method of Painting is the ideal place to start then.
  • Knowledge – In order to develop into a good painter you need to acquire basic knowledge of painting. This is what we call the Fundamentals of Good Painting. The fundamentals include things like composition & design, values, colour and colour mixing, brushwork and mark making, edges, and more. Add to this the understanding of how to critique and analyze your own painting. Acquiring this knowledge requires you to develop a practice of study.
  • Practice – You need to paint a lot in order to make improvements. According to professional artist Kevin McPherson, if you do 1,000 paintings in three years you will become good enough to be a professional artist. No doubt this is true. In the Learn To Paint Academy we see those students who study the fundamentals and then paint a lot are the ones who make rapid and notable progress.
  • Community – One of the things that will help you along your journey is joining a supportive inspired community. At the Learn To Paint Academy we have been fortunate to attract a group of inspired artists from around the world who come together in our community forum, and in our regular challenges and live streams.

The Learn To Paint Academy has been structured to help you on your art journey by focusing on simplifying the process, giving you the knowledge of the fundamentals of good painting, opportunities to practice your painting, and a global supportive community of inspired artists.

We have a unique platform for teaching artists which keeps the whole process simple, teaches you the fundamental knowledge you need, gives you plenty of painting practice, and a supportive global community.
