Great to have you join us for it. Below is all the information you need to get the most out of the challenge.

To get you set up correctly for the challenge make sure you start here with these action steps:

Action Step 1 - Register For The Facebook Group

The Challenge will be run via the Facebook Group. So you will need to register to join the group. After requesting to join the group please wait until the group admin approves your registration (this process is not automatic so please be patient)

Action Step 2 - Save This Page

This page is going to have ALL of the information you need for the challenge.

When ever you have any question at all just come back to this page using the above link and all your questions will be answered right here for you. Everything you need to know will be here :)

Action Step 3 - Invite Your Artist Friends To Join Us

Art Supplies

Here are the art supplies you will need for the challenge:

Paints

You can use acrylic, oils, water mixable oils or gouache for the challenge. Rod will be using both acrylics and water mixable oil paints. We recommend you get the best quality paints you can afford.

Here is the palette we will use (Bold colours are our standard palette):

* Ultramarine Blue
* Cerulean Blue
* Alizarin Crimson
* Cadmium Red
* Yellow Ochre
* Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow
* Pthalo Green or Viridian Green
* Burnt Siena
* Titanium White

Brushes

You can use which ever brushes you feel comfortable with. Rod uses a minimal amount of brushes:

* 2 x 1" Flat Synthetic Brushes
* 2 x 1/2 or 1/4" Flat Synthetic Brushes
* 1 x Small Rigger or Script Line Brush
* 1 x Medium Palette Knife

Painting Surfaces

Use which ever painting surface you like - Stretched Canvas, Boards (prepared with Gesso), Loose Canvas, Canvas Pads

Size - Either 12 x 16 or 16 x 20"

We will have 2 warm up painting projects and 3 main painting projects so you will want at least 5 surfaces to work with

Mediums

Rod does not use a lot of mediums in his painting... however he suggests the following:

* Bucket of water
* Retarder (if using acrylic paints)
* Solvent or Thinning medium for oils
* Fast drying Medium for oils and water mixable oils

Major Prize For Challenge

The major prize for the challenge is the original framed painting by Rod with a gallery price of $1,000.

Every one has the opportunity to win the major prize -  it is not based on your painting skills.

Here is how to enter:

1/ Have a go at the two warm up paintings and the three main painting projects
2/ When finished take a photo of you holding your painting and smiling
3/ Post the photo of you with your finished painting in the Facebook group
4/ There are five painting projects we will do ... so you can enter a maximum of 5 times
5/ You will receive one entry into the prize draw for each photo you post as per above to a maximum of five entries
6/ Entries close om Wednesday 28th July at 9am
7/ The winner will be drawn at random from all of the entries
8/ The prize draw will be on live stream on Friday 30th July at 9am (Brisbane Time)
