Artist Bio: I am Mai Dang, a 59-year-old retiree from Vietnam.
In 2015, I got diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. It was a really difficult time for me and my family fighting the sickness. After my breast surgery, one related hand became weaker and cannot work as normal. At that time, I felt depressed and anxious. I hardly hold a pen or a brush. I thought that my painting dream ended forever.

But with my painting passion, I decided to gave me one more chance to start again, by practicing at home, a little step-by-step.

Luckily, on a special day last year (18/2/2019), I knew about Rod Moore’s free class.

I love the simple and effective way Learn To Paint Academy teaching me (about painting with three steps, three colours, and three brushes). Rod Moore’s lessons are super easy to understand for a newbie like me. I can learn and practice after watching his interesting videos every week. Each completed painting is a happiness to me.

Until now, I have painted nearly 20 pictures. And I choose two of them for this “2020 Learn To Paint Academy Student Exhibition”. They are my most favourites:

1. Landscape scene with rolling hill and after light from setting sun
(It is the first painting that I learned from Rod Moore)

2.Tropical beach scene
(It looks similar to the beach scene in my hometown in Vietnam)

I join in the Exhibition to show my deep gratitude and appreciation to my teacher, Rod Moore.
